Hunter & Marissa

Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about us. Our names are Marissa and Hunter. We have been together for about 9 years and married for 4 years. I (Marissa) have always wanted to open my own business. Ever since I can remember, no matter what line of work I had in mind, I wanted to be the owner of the business. When the idea of opening a mobile cafe came to mind, about 3 years ago, I figured it would be a long shot. Hunter and I thought it may be our retirement adventure, or something to keep us busy in the distant future.

Buuuut, on February 25th in 2022, Hunter was scrolling on Facebook Marketplace and found our truck. Someone was selling it from the parking lot of the dealership who regularly maintained it. The truck was previously used as a mobile golf apparel shop... and did not currently run. If you know Hunter, you know projects like that are basically magnetically connected to him.

Hunter sent me the post and asked me what my thoughts were. And just like that, we made an arrangement to go up to Kansas City the 28th.

On the 28th, we went up to look at the truck and by the end of the day our coffee truck was in our driveway! Let's just say the next day was really difficult for us to not just stay home and get to work. And it stayed this way up until May 27th of 2022.

This was my last day working at a regular 9-5 job. I was enjoying the people I worked with, but my heart and mind were no longer in it at my office job. I didn't just WANT to work on my coffee truck dreams, I NEEDED to. At this point in my life, I was ready to start my adult life doing something that so many people only dream about. Now, I know I am very lucky and not everyone gets an opportunity like this. That is exactly why I had to take advantage of where I was at in life. None, and I really mean N O N E, of this would have been possible without the love and support from Hunter. From my last day at work on May 27th, until his last day of work on November 29th of 2022, he fully and wholeheartedly supported and believed in the dream we had for ourselves. Not only that, but for those six months in between, he was the only income for our household. He worked his tail off so his wife could focus on making a dream come true. If that isn't something from a storybook, I don't know what is!

I could go on and on for days about our whole journey, so if you're reading this and think I need to blog about each month and milestone we accomplished while building our coffee truck, let me know!
